Notes
Abraham left Jinja to go to Ikumbya and on the way they picked the chairperson who was visiting her relatives. They reached Ikumbya at around a half past one, they found the member in the usual meeting place. They started the meeting sharing of their future plans and one member said that they decided well not to think about buying goats for the members because most village people have lost their animals. He said that as most people grow sugar cane now they spray the grass with chemicals whereby if the animal eats that grass they die, that why in Ikumbya trading center there is a lot go goats meat. He said many have lost their animals because of that they decided to do poultry. They discussed about the kind of chickens to keep and they decided that they are going to keep both layers and broilers. They said that layers will be kept together as a group and some members promised to give their trees to cut timber which will be used to construct chicken coop. They said that each member will be given chicken to keep at home and see who will be the first member to buy a goat from chickens. There was a struggle to get where the chicken coop will be put and some members they said that because the bore hole is down let the chicken coop go to the upper side and some were insisting that the chicken coop remain in the lower side. Abraham advised them that what matters is a safe place where they can keep their chickens not the location whether is upper or lower. They agreed to put the chicken coop in upper section and they started building by the time Abraham left to Jinja.
