David , Steven and Alex went to Maliga village but before reaching the village they first visited Nsinze sub county. They did so because they wanted to bring up to speed the sub county officials about what they were going to do in the village .At the sub county, they were welcomed by the sub county chief and other government officials. The parish chief, Mr Muyingo from Buwongo parish where Maliga village is located accompanied them to the village to witness this borehole repair. When they reached the village they found the members at the borehole waiting for them. The Kibo staff started by introducing the parish chief and requested him to give a-brief guidance to the community members .He reminded them about the safe water chain and also later told them that it’s their responsibility to take full care and ownership of their borehole. With those few remarks also Alex and David they thanked all the members for their good cooperation and unity. They summarized their talks by encouraging everyone to maintain the good hygiene and sanitation standards not forgetting to always fully own their borehole. The members were also reminded to always continue contributing money towards their borehole account to meet any future borehole repair costs as this is the only way this community will have demonstrated full responsibility and ownership of their borehole. The Kibo staff along with the HPM from the district mr kabugo started the whole repair process by first of all testing the pump and the generator in order to check if all were working fine . After that The repair process started by the HP M and the Kibo staff pumping the dirty water out of the borehole. Using the newly purchased water pump, the process of test pumping took them about one hour .Fortunately in 30 seconds the water had cleared and the residents had started bringing their jerrycans to fetch the water. The Kibo staff set out their watches in order to know how long it would take one to fill up one jerrycan . They discovered that it would take one 18 seconds. The Kibo staff stopped the test pumping process because the water had cleared and afterwards the H P M took a lead as they were replacing back the new stainless pipes and rods . The following were the parts which were replaced into the borehole. The nine stainless pipes,rods,third plate,pedestal,bolts,cylinder and water tank. After the Kibo staff had replaced all the above parts they pumped the borehole to monitor if it was efficiently working. The village , Hpm and the Kibo staff were all happy for the success they had reached. They concluded the whole repair process by the H PM mr kabugo carrying out the casting process. The village had earlier on gathered the sand and the aggregates for the mixture during the casting process.Because of time the Kibo staff left mr kabugo to continue with the casting process.Later the Kibo staff hopes to go back to monitor the casting process as well as guiding the village as they will be forming up their borehole bylaws and training of the new water user committee. The village contributed 300000 shillings towards their borehole repair of which part of the money was used to purchase cement, sand, concrete and paid the hand pump mechanic labour costs for the day.
