- Notes
- Harriet found a few participants waiting for her at the borehole( the usual meeting place where the community always gather)
As soon as she reached other people who were still at home also turned up for the meeting.
The community together with Kibo staff started the meeting with an open prayer which was led by Gusino Isaac who prayed and put all the programs in God’s hands.
Harriet led them in the meeting and told the group that the plan for the day was to guide them as they remove banana stems from two the complete stoves which were built before.
Harriet divided the group into two groups whereby each group was to remove banana stem from one stove. Also this was intended to promote active participation and to ensure that they all master the process of building stoves since the goal of the program is to ensure that they learn how to build stoves on their own.
She led each group at a time and asked each group to remove banana stems from the built stoves from the stoves. The group that was led by Matilda as a group leader removed the banana stem but the challenge was on shaping the holes , they left some dirt blocking the hole that brings fire from the big pot to the small pot.
Harriet corrected their mistake and encouraged them to always be careful when they are removing banana stems and also look at the complete stoves that Kibo removed banana stems to avoid mistakes.
While another group led by Samson Titi also completely failed. She asked Matilda’s group to explain to them what they have learnt. But the group did not want the community to explain to them that because they had also failed to remove banana stems.Harriet explained to them and encouraged them to always respect one another because learning is continuous process and people always learn from one another.
She also encouraged them to work as a team if they are to achieve development. The community thanked Kibo for empowering them with a skill and being patient with them despite them being slow learners. Harriet encouraged them to continue practicing because practice makes perfect.
