Notes
Tom made a visit to kisiro village to check on sanitation and hygiene improvements as well as facility constructions. When he arrived in the village, he found the committee members waiting at the meeting place. They first stared off by moving in the homes around the trading center where they met a resident who for a long time has been promised to start on a new latrine but was yet to start. They shared with him about the dangers of the old latrine and what dangers it can bring to the family as well as the community. After the discussion he agreed that and right away he called people that will be helping him in the digging of the latrine. After they moved to the lower section and checked on some latrines under construction. In one home, they found when the resident had abandoned the pit because it had collapsed on one section. Tom shared with him how he could still use the same pit if he used good construction materials as well as methods. Tom advised him on how to dig and construct it. After Tom and the committee members moved to other homes were they improvements. In one home they have started on a new pit after his old Latrine collapsing due to heavy rains. Tom encouraged and advised the resident on how to dig the pit so that it does not collapse in. In one home as well, they found when the resident had finished his new latrine. Tom and the committee members advised the resident to try and construct a roof on the latrine as it can collapse due to heavy rains. In one section, they found two new latrines being constructed and only remaining to be roofed. Tom advice the committee members to continue encouraging the residents to work and improve on their sanitation and hygiene standards
