Notes
Ida went to Bupeni and taught a lesson about hygiene and sanitation. She first did some calculations with the community on how much they would spend and yet could save if they used water and soap. Some person died of cholera. Transport to the hospital and back. 20000 shillings Medication. 40000 shillings, mortuary. 50000 shillings. Casket. 100000 shillings Transportation of the body. 100000 shillings, all the food at home will be consumed. Chickens , goats and cows will be consumed. Mbulalina Isaac thanked Kibo for opening their eyes. He continued saying that they have never thought that hand washing was very important. They didn’t know that they can save time, money only by washing hands. Josephine said that she didn’t know her child who died of cholera was because of her negligence, she said that now she can feel the pain of not washing hands. The entire community kept silent imagining how ignorant they have been. Ida encouraged the community to always keep standards of sanitation to avoid sicknesses related to poor sanitation.
