- Alex together with a team from Draco drilling contractor were in Ituba to carry out a borehole installation and casting of the new borehole in Ituba Namalowe. During this process, a water pump is inserted at the bottom of borehole to pump out water at a given rate until it clears and a sample of water is taken to the laboratory for testing before declaring that water to be either safe or not safe for human health. However, this was not very easy as it took 4 hours for this water to look clear. Normally it takes a maximum of 3 hours to have water clear on most of the wells Kibo has drilled in Namutumba district. This well has an estimated water yield of 1200L/ hr. Pump testing was opened to flow at a rate of 900L/hr and this took 4 hours before water turned the color to clear. It was still not perfectly done the first day and therefore Alex asked the team from Draco to carry out more water blowing the following day until the water perfectly clears and a water sample is got for testing before they could continue with the casting of the new slab. The reason why this water took long to clear was because the soil formation in this area was very challenging and a lot of mud soil collapsed into the hole during the drilling process. The following day on Thursday 13/12/2018, the team from Draco told Alex that they used 4 hours again to continue test pumping and blowing and the water this time was more clear before they continued to pour gravel into the mold and casting of the well was done.
