- Tom had a meeting in kalitumba village to discuss way forward for the program as well to discuss about what to do for the residents that lost their slabs. When Tom arrived in the village, he found the chairman of the village mobilizing and encouraging people to come to the meeting. Tom waited at the meeting place and later people started to come to the meeting. They chairman started off the meeting by appreciating residents for having come to the meeting as well as participating in the sanitation program. He also thanked those that participated in the construction of the slabs as well. After the chairman, the parish chief was invited to speak. She spoke about kibo and thanked kibo for the good work it has done in the village of kalitumba as well as other villages. She also thanked the residents for improving on there sanitation and hygiene as well as encouraging them to maintain the standards of sanitation and hygiene. She also encouraged the vhts to report those residents that still don’t want to improve. After Tom spoke and appreciated the parish chief for coming to the meeting as well as for encouraging the residents in sanitation and hygiene. Tom thanked the residents for participating in the program since it was first launched in the village and thanked the vhts and the village committee for standing with kibo in the village. Tom asked about what to do specifically for those residents that lost the slabs. One of the residents said that there were efforts being add to buy some materials so that they can construct for them new ones. They said there was a political/person who promised the, some cement and they said the rest they will see about adding on. Tom was very thankful for the efforts being taken to improve and help there colleagues. Tom also shared about the way forward in which he said he will not be coming as many times as he has been doing. He urged the residents to continue improving in every aspect of there lived as regards to sanitation and hygiene. One woman spoke on behalf of fellow women in thanking kibo for the work it has done in their lives. She said that surely there are several women in the village who now never struggle with there children about where they can go because they now have latrines. Not only latrines but also other facilities like dish racks and showers. She also said that some of her fellow women never usd to bathe during day but now they have the opportunity to do so. She said this has helped them greatly and improved on there marriages. Tom also thanked her for sharing and encouraged the women to always improve and even maintain every facility they have gotten during this time. Tom after left for jinja.
