Harriet,Ida and Irene made a surprise visit to Buyange and this was intended to assess the progress of the Healthy and Safe kitchen program.
They reached in the village and begun walking home to home checking on the stoves and finding out whether those ones with stoves were using them effectively or were using them along side the three stones.
The team was led by the Chairperson of the group Farida who was seven months pregnant. On their way conducting home to home inspections, Farida told Kibo staff that since that day morning she was feeling terrible pain in her womb and she was not feeling the baby movements.
This was a threatening situation because no one new the cause or whether the fetus had died in the womb or still a live. After a few minutes the pain kept on increasing and she could not even stand.
Kibo staff advised her to go to the hospital so that they can detect the main cause of the pain and why the baby was not kicking in the womb any more. She agreed and said that she has just come back from the hospital two days back because she has been attending to her 12 year son who was operated of hania. She needed to first prepare her, and the rest of the children and tell them how to take care of their sick sibling. Farida’s sister in law volunteered to take care of the children as she goes to the hospital.
Kibo staff took her to the hospital and she was diagnosed of a cute malaria and put on medication. Kibo staff decided to come back Jinja and continue to follow up with her on the phone. Hopefully she will get better.
