Notes
Steven kambale met with Basoga, one of the people that is very active in this community and together moved to the new borehole where they were later joined by two women. His main reason why he went to Ituba was to inspect the water color and to see if the water had cleared very well. This water had issues to clear since it was installed and the borehole was left to be pumped until it would clear. This well was installed with pipes on 3/01/2019 by our drilling contractor Draco with 9 stainless pipes. The water however hadn’t cleared very well and they told the community members to keep on pumping it until it clears and if it had failed to clear, a compressor would be brought back to blow out the water again. On a good note, the water had cleared very well after 5 days of pumping the water. The first 3 days, the water had issues in that it would clear for a few hours and for the next hours it changes to brown. Steven observed the well for some hours just to make sure the water color was ok and not changing. The village has had some challenges losing two people in the same period and they were getting water from this new well. The community has to meet the remaining steps of building a new borehole fence and meetings that prepare everyone on how best they should take good care of their borehole before the community is allowed to use this well. A general water meeting is to be held on Monday 14/01/2019 to discuss the community roles and responsibilities towards their borehole and to be guided on constructing a strong borehole fence and also to continue training the water user committee on what should be done.
