Notes
David and Steven were in kisilo monitoring the sanitation status of the the village. They were also moving home to home encouraging the members to work hard and improve on their sanitation standards. David and Steven’s emphasis was mainly in West section of the village. While the Kibo staff were in the village ,they were joined by one Vht and Mr Muwada the Lc 1 of the village to the different homes in the West section . These were some of the homes they visited. mr Namawa Daudi they found him when he had already finished constructing a shelter around his new dug pit latrine. They also encouraged him to improve on his shower area and dish rack which were not meeting the rightful standards. They continued with their home to home sanitation improvement campaigns to Mis Nemwa Mary who is a widow living with her four younger children . Unfortunately he didn’t have a latrine instead he was using the neighbors. On that note the Kibo staff along with the Lc 1 advised the neighbors around her to join in and help. The team was so happy to hear from the neighbors that they were going to help the lady who was a widow. At the home of mr Atuhayire Isimah they found him when he had all the necessary sanitation facilities except the dish rack which was missing. They encouraged him to construct a good standardized dish rack . Since he had 5 old students living with him during the holiday. Mr Atuhayire lsimah promised the team that during the next follow up village visit without fail they will be meeting two dish-racks in his home . When the group was moving they reached at mr mwanja Daniel’s home . They found when he had finished the construction of his new pit latrine about 20feet deep and the rubbish pit but he was only missing the dish rack. The group advised him to construct one since his wife was found washing plates on the ground surface. They visited mr sanday mulungu for him he had atoilet but it had a lot of flies. David advised him to control those flies by the use of ash. He was also advised to improve on his shower area ‘s sock pit .Because it had a lot of dirty water harboring a lot of mosquitoes . Since they had already assessed the sanitation status in the West section they moved and crossed into the lower west section of the village . They did so because it was the section which was strongly affected by the heavy rains and winds . They moved in quite number of homes, however most of the homes had constructed new latrines and some residents were only left to roof their new constructed latrines .Due to the limited time factor the Kibo staff suggested that they will be planning with the Lc1 and the v h t to have a-village general sanitation improvements meeting any day . In general the entire village of kisilo is improving the great challenge is every home having dish rack because of the termites which tends to eat the poles of the dish racks in the ground. But during the next meeting the Kibo staff hopes to solve that problem by the use of movable dish-racks and how they can protect the poles not getting into contact directly into the ground. Except some few homes which are yet have to finish their latrine .
