Ownership Story
After the local council elections, the community got into a fight because they did not want the former chairman to be re-elected but he won the elections. This did not go well with some people as people were hurt, raped, arrested for this cause. The borehole fence was also destroyed during this time. However they were able to rebuild the borehole fence and even though people still have mixed feelings for the post elections, they are slowly by slowly reconciling.

Notes
Introduction Lorna went to this village to continue with the topic Decision making. Overview Lorna reached the village and together with Godi a VHT moved around in a few homes mobilizing people to come to the meeting. However before the meeting begun, they got into a conversation about moving forward from the post election. In the previous meeting they left when Lovisa the vice chairman on the borehole had told the group that she was going to help with mobilizing the members to come attend the meeting. This did not happen however because Lovisa lost someone but also according to Godi, Balaki the chairman , Naume a community member and other members , Lovisa is among those causing havoc in the community. Lorna however suggested that Balaki together with the Local council meet Lovisa on the way forward. Lorna also suggested the chairman move home to home to reconcile with the community. When the members had come, the meeting started by the chairman saying a prayer and welcoming Lorna to present to them what she had prepared for them. Lorna introduced the topic ; the role of parents in preventing teenage pregnancy. She started by telling the community that it is every parents job to ensure that they see to it that their children do not get pregnant at an early age. She added that most times, parents don’t know where their children are after school, who their friends are, who their parents are and if they instill morals in their children. Lorna asked how many parents know who their children’s friends were?, they all went silent. One elderly man mentioned that it is true the people to blame a lot for these teenage pregnancies were parents themselves. Lorna added that sometimes parents send their children off to their relatives when it comes to holidays and while there, they can’t monitor what they are doing. Most responsibility is also left to teachers, relatives and not themselves. Lorna then asked them where, they think the parents are lacking in guiding their teenage children. Naume said that sometimes parents have created a bridge between themselves and their children whereby one is feared and the other is preferred in that, even when the child gets pregnant the mother will encourage the girl child not to dare tell her dad or else she will be in trouble. The mother will say they will handle it. Therefore if parents encourage this kind of behavior the children will think its okay since they have support. Parents should therefore find a balance and agree on something’s for the future of their children. Unfortunately as they were still going on, the rains started pouring heavily and everyone dispersed to get shelter and it stopped when it was late. Lorna will continue with this lesson later. Conclusion The community members asked Lorna to give them 1 week to remobilize and solve their issues then she can come back.
