Henry, Harriet, Jessica, Tape, Suzan, Fallon and Nate went to the village with the purpose of building a demonstration stove. Along with them, were two visitors from U.S.A (Rob and Sonia) who were excited and wanted to experience some of the activities that Kibo implement in the communities. When they arrived at the village, they found some of the members gathered at the meeting place under a big tree and among them was the committee chairperson who happily welcomed them. She then informed Kibo staff how they had already gathered at the home where the demonstration process was going to be carried out. Together they walked towards the home and found most members patiently waiting with all the building materials assembled near the kitchen. Harriet thanked the members for gathering and showing the interest in the program .she asked them to get involved in the whole process because practice makes perfect. Kibo staff with the community members worked together throughout the building process which involved digging out the termite soil from the anthill, mixing and stamping the dirt, cutting the banana stems and building the stove. This was done with joy, singing and dancing that attracted the visitors also to jump in the dirt and start stamping. The songs were about a standard quality kitchen that is clean, Healthy and Safe that can attract even the visitors to look at it. This was a sign to show how the community was appreciative for the Kibo programs in their village. The new members were also attracted and participated in the building process because it enabled them to try and learn the skills of building the energy saving stove. Harriet kept on encouraging the members to always smear their stoves and kitchen floors as well as the latrines and shower areas for a better look. Smearing would also make the kitchen facilities last longer and minimize jiggers and termites. As the process was still was still going on it started raining since the road to Buluvu is bad Kibo staff decided to leave immediately because they feared to get stuck on the way. They thought it was wise to leave an incomplete stove and go back to finish it other than getting stuck in the mud on the way back to Jinja.
