- Notes
- Harriet made a surprise visit to Naisamula and this was intended to monitor the progress as well as assess whether those one who got stoves first were using them on daily basis.
She walked home to home while looking at the stoves as well as general hygiene of the main house. She observed that most people were using their stoves and this was evidenced by absence of three stones in the kitchens.
A few people who were not using their stoves were only waiting for them to dry before they start using them to avoid them cracking. The group also told Harriet that they had poised building stoves because they have been busy in the gardens harvesting their maize but they plan to resume soon.
Harriet was also told by one of the member that her stove contains smoke in the kitchen and also the small cooking pot doesn’t cook food. She was cooking food in her kitchen but it contained a lot of smoke. Harriet tried to observe and find out the cause and she found out that the hole that brings oxygen into the kitchen was filled with fire that hindered air to blow fire and take out smoke.
She took out the firewood, removed ash and immediately the small cooking pot started cooking and smoke went out. She also remained them to stay working together and help others also to get stoves as well as smear their stoves.
She also told them about the Busoga wide women conference 2019 that will take place from 25- 27Jan 2019 in Jinja at Magwa primary school. She also reminded them to ask for permission from their husbands so that they plan together on the trip. The group thanked for the opportunity and promised to attend the conference
