- Notes
- They went to this community to check on the progress of latrine construction, dish racks, shower areas, kitchen areas, clean compounds, encouraging people to construct good standard facilities and promoting sustainability. As we reached this village, we met with the chairman and the VHTs to brief us and also chose which section of the village we are going to go to. We the Started walking around this village to teach the benefits of sanitation and the dangers of poor sanitation and also remind the residents about the result which happen due to poor sanitation case in point may lead to loss of lives which bring many expenses yet they can solve all those problems of poor sanitation. As they were walking around they went to one home which had a shower area but behind it, there was stagnant water and it was looking filthy. Enock taught them how to make a soak pit as well as proper drainage system. There are some people who have constructed many new latrines with bricks. We also saw some good Shower areas and dish racks which are in use and the people are really happy to have them. The residents in this community are so welcoming and eager to learn and improve to change their sanitation. The chairman of the village has taken the lead in this village to to more active, monitoring the program and collecting the money from the people who want to buy iron sheets. So far there are 31 people who have registered and the chairman is keeping the money and other residents as also yet to bring their money. During the discussion with the chairman he told us there are only 8 people without latrines, we walked to those homes so that we can discuss and hear from them what they are planning. Three of them had dug latrine pits, and promised to complete in two weeks time. During our next visit we planned to walk in the other section which we didn’t have.
