Healthy and Safe Kitchens
Notes
Suzan, Tape and Jessica went to the village with the purpose of building more demonstration stoves as well as to monitor other healthy and safe kitchen facilities.
They arrived at the village safely and found some community members with their leaders gathered at the meeting place. The community was so happy to see them, smiling and dancing all over the place, and after exchanging greetings, Suzan informed the members about the activities that would take place that day.
Kibo staff were so impressed to find that some members from the upper side of the village had already managed to build a stove on their own and although it wasn’t built perfectly well but Kibo staff of went corrected their mistakes as they explained to them.Suzan encouraged the members to continue practicing building stoves on their own as it would enable them master the skills easily and be perfect with time. The members together with Kibo staff went to the lower side of the village and worked hard mixing and stamping the dirt until they built an energy saving stove for an old woman who looked so helpless and weak.
While building the stove, Jessica, Suzan and Tape kept on encouraging the members to always smear their kitchens and stoves so that they would last longer and look neat . They also encouraged them to smear other home facilities like latrines and bathrooms. Kibo staff went ahead and thanked all the members for participating in all the healthy and safe kitchen lessons and the meeting came to an end after fixing a date and time that the next meeting would take place.
