- Notes
- Suzan, Tape and Jessica went to the village purposely to monitor the healthy and safe kitchen facilities and also to guide the community as they built stoves on their own.
When they arrived at the village and found some of the committee members gathered at the meeting place who warmly welcomed them, and after exchanging greetings, Suzan informed the members of their intentions that day which was agreed upon. The committee members immediately led Kibo staff to a home where where they had already organized the building materials for the stove. The members began working together participating in the building process while kibo staff guided and explained the importance of every step they carried out. This was important because the members needed to learn the skills of building on their own in case the kitchen program exited from their village. It also helped other members to improve on building stoves since many had tried building their stoves poorly.
During the monitoring process, Tape,Jessica and Suzan found that Some kitchen facilities such as the latrines, bathrooms, dish racks and rubbish pits were in a bad state and humbly requested the members to always repair their facilities whenever they were in a bad shape. They also encouraged them to keep smearing their stoves and kitchens because it would last longer and look neat, smearing would also reduce on the dust and jiggers that always affects their healthy lives. The members were also encouraged to improve on their sanitation and hygiene around their homes so as to avoid diseases which would threaten their lives.
Suzan thanked all members for participating in all the healthy and safe kitchen lessons, encouraging them to continue with the same spirit of working together as a community for an effective development. The community were so great full for the kitchen program ,promising to maintain and improve on their general sanitation and hygiene. The meeting finally came to to an end with a prayer from one of the community members.
