Healthy and Safe Kitchens
Notes
Tape,Harriet,Jessica,Ida,Falcon,Nate and Suzan went to the village to celebrate with the community purposely to thank the members for participating in the healthy and safe kitchen program. Along with them, they carried a few gifts (two big community saucepans and soap for every participant)that they were going to give to the members who participated in the kitchen program lessons. When they arrived at the village, they found a few community members gathered at the meeting place together with their L.C 1 chairperson, waiting patiently for the meeting to begin. The members happily welcomed Kibo staff to their village and informed them of how they had lost one of their fellow community member in the previous night and for that matter most members had left for the burial ceremony. Kibo staff together with the members walked around the homes to check whether they have maintained their stoves as well smeared their home facilities. Most members had maintained their stoves that is cooking on them on daily basis as well as smeared them. This was evidenced by the absence of three stones in the kitchen and even finding food cooking by itself or attended by children. They later came back to the meeting. The chairperson L.C 1 opened the meeting with a prayer and then invited Kibo staffs to speak. Harriet thanked the members for gathering, having maintained their home facilities as well as acquiring the skill of building stoves. The group secretary salavano Nagibo told kibo staff that that all the members in the group (30) acquired the stoves and they have started building stoves for other members who were not initially but of the group and so far four have got stoves. Harriet later requested each Kibo staff to share a word of encouragement or wisdom with the members, thanking them for involving their selves in all the program lessons. Harriet requested the treasurer of the group to receive the two community source pans on behalf of the group. She told them these source pans are for all the group member to use Incase of funeral or parties. They can also rent them out to the people outside their community so that they can get money and bring it to the group. She also told them that each will be receiving soap as a sign of appreciation because they accepted to do dirty work on voluntary basis for the good of their community. Harriet asked each member to come forward so that they would receive soap thanking them for participating in all the healthy and safe kitchen lessons. The community was so great full for the work and love that Kibo group showed them this was portrayed through dance and songs of joy promising to always work together and maintain their sanitation and hygiene for a better healthy living. Harriet once again thanked the members for their participation, asked them to maintain the same spirit of working together as a community for an effective development. The meeting came to end with prayer from one of the community members.
