Notes
Introduction
Manuela and Lorna went to Kivule village to teach community members about women and HIV /AIDS , their aim was to educate women about this lesson so that they can know that they are especially vulnerable to HIV/AIDS and need this information and Skills to protect themselves and their children from infection. In this session both biological and cultural or social factors that put women at higher risk than men are explored
Overview
While Manuela was teaching, she mentioned some of the possible factors that make women more vulnerable to HIV /AIDS for example, women receive quantities of possibly infected fluids during sexual encounter , women have a surface area of mucous membranes ( portal of entry)that is greater in size than men, taboo related to sex, woman are taken as property ,they don’t have any say concerning sex related issues.
After that , Lorna joined Manuela and she started by reviewing the lessons that Manuela taught the community members, she asked the women and men about what can be done in order to protect the lives of the children and mothers. Women were touched and they said, that they will start speaking out their minds to refuse what is bad and accepts what is good so that they can remind healthy and free from HIV/AIDS.
Finally Manuela encouraged the women to get time and talk to their children while young so that when they grow up, they will live to be responsible people in the community who will always come out good decisions making.
Manuela plans to go back on Friday to teach about cure and treatment.
