- Notes
- Enock and Martin visited this village to check on latrine construction, dish racks, shower area, kitchen areas, cloth lines, rubbish presence as well as to assess the impact of sanitation in this village. They also aimed at encouraging families, teaching them the importance and benefits of sanitation and hygiene. In addition they also aimed at monitoring the hand washing construction, emphasize those homes without them to also construct so that they can be able to wash hands after visiting the latrine and before eating. They encouraged the residents about the importance of behaviors change and encouraged them to embrace the values of good sanitation as well as constructing good standard structures hence sustainability. As they walked around they got to know that there was a funeral going on in this village. They first went to check on the remaining homes which didn’t not have latrines on the last evaluation so that they capture that data to update the third survey. In the third survey, they where only 11 homes which didn’t have proper latrines. We visited 6 of them and out of them they all had constructed new latrines. Since most people where going to the funeral, we also had to join them during this sad moment. They lost of the the old ladies in this community. At the funeral there were so many people from the government, we got time to also share the work we are doing in this community. After the burial ceremony, we traveled back to jinja before it was late.
