Introduction
Manuela and Lorna went to Namutumba district to pick up the Assistant inspector of school and went with him to bukdomira Primary School to meet the headmistress and discuss with her about Life Skills program which is suppose to be implemented in that school soon, the presence of the inspector was to introduce Kibo group to the headmistress and the school at large.
Overview
When Manuela and Lorna reached the school, they went to the headmistress office and had discussions with her, Manuela and Lorna were warmly welcomed, the headmistress introduced her self to them then later they also introduced them selves to o,the headmistress, Manuela and Lorna started by explaining about Kibo group and Life Skills education and counseling, Manuela said that, Life Skills is the process of adopting positive behavior that can help an individual to copy up with the daily challenges in the community,That is why this program is very vital for pupils while still at teenage age, Life Skills has got good topic and lessons which are really good for young pupils so that in long run they will come up with well informed decisions for their lives .
Some of the topics are Decisions making Skills, Relationship Skills, Communication Skills, HIV/ AIDS and puberty stage /body changes.Manuela told the headmistress everything because she was taking long to understand what life skills is and it’s importance.
Manuela and Lorna went on explaining to the headmistress that life skills pupils will be given some refreshments on the first day of starting to teach life skills, but the books and pens will be given during this session till this program comes to an end, but when this program is done in this school, their will be a continuity by the teachers who were attending life skills lessons, parents will provide scholastic materials for their children to promote partnerships between parents and Kibo Group organizations.
Challenges
The Assistant inspector and the headmistress were too expectant when she had about the program.
