Notes
David and Steven were in the village . Their intentions of going there was to follow up on the homes which were reflected in the third evaluation to be still practicing open deification . At the village David and Steven were joined by a group of members from the water user committee who first led them to the borehole because they wanted to assess the sanitation status of the borehole. Unfortunately the status of the borehole wasn’t good because the borehole had an older fence and the sanitation of the compound was not taken good care of .David also tested the borehole by pumping it. Also the handle of the borehole was not in good condition the reason being that the ballbearing were worn out. Therefore David advised the committee members and the people who were around at the borehole to fully own their borehole . He also reminded them of taking the good care and ownership of their borehole. From the borehole David and Steven along with some four committee members went into the homes of the 5 people who were reflected into the third evaluation who were still practicing open deification. They visited mr Noah Kinabye’s home for him he had already finished the construction of his latrine and even roofed it . He had three homes therefore only one home was missing a latrine . They found he had one. They continued to the second and third homes of mr Wilson Masajja and masajja Godfrey. The two mentioned people were going to share the same latrine pit because they dug it so deeper and longer enough to accommodate the two families and rooms . The owners of the two homes were advised to construct on top of their latrine a shelter to avoid the hole from getting covered with the running water and the soils. When the Kibo staff continued with their home to home movements they visited the last two homes of mr Gavuma Elliot and Sanjay Samuel . These two homes dint have latrines and were still practicing open deification. Therefore when the owners saw the Kibo staff they ran away.Because that would not help David had to talk to the elder sons to deliver on the behalf of Kibo staff that they were supposed to have all the necessary sanitation facilities in their homes .Also David continued and encouraged the committee members they had moved with to help continuing sensitizing more about facility construction and improvements in the homes which dint have the facilities. The members were encouraged to continue contributing money towards their borehole account because the 150000 shillings they had as their borehole account balance was less and there was more need for the village to continue contributing. After all that the kibo staff had realized the weakness amongst the committee members . Because of the conversation they had shared while they visited the different homes. The Kibo staff encouraged the committee members to have a village general meeting to assess where they would be going and where they would be .They will also remind themselves about their borehole future sustainability. Therefore the Kibo staff hopes to follow up on them through phone calls to check on how their meeting will have gone. In general according to the sanitation status of the entire village the majority of the residents had maintained their standards. Except the two homes which had failed to improve on their sanitation standards.
