Notes
Tom was meant to deliver iron sheets to the village but he was later requested by the chairman pt to take the iron sheets as there was a government official they were receiving. The chairman later suggested that Tom can visit the village but there were just specific sections they were to visit especially of homes that are still lagging behind. When Tom arrived in the village, he went to the chairman’s place and together they moved to a ho,e of mr Farouk who still is yet to finish the digging of his pit and later construct on it. Tom and the chairman did not find mr Farouk but were able to talk to mr Farouk’s wife. The wife suggested that they were going to dig the pit but later someone picked the pick axe. Tom encouraged them to ask the chairman of other pick axes so that they can be able to finish there pit. In another home they found when they had put mud on the pit and were waiting for it to dry before they can start constructing the wall structure. Also, as they moved towards the upper section, they found an old man and his young grand son when they had started on digging the pit for there new latrine. They had also collected poles for a dish rack. This encouraged Tom, the chairman and other committee members. The old man said even though his hands Hurt while digging, he was determined to have a latrine in his home. They also visited another home which has greatly embraced smearing. They encouraged the residents from that home to also encourage other residents about the smearing of there houses. Tom also asked with the residents in the home about the better methods of standardizing and construction of dish racks that consume less nails, the man from the home offered to help as well,as the chairman offed to help in the construction of the dish rack. In other homes on the lower section they were able to see three new latrines. Tom and the chairman as well as some committee members encouraged the residents from the section of the village to roof there latrines. One of the residents said he was waiting for the iron sheets in order to construct the better structures. After moving around the village! Tom left for jinja
