Introduction Lorna , Manuela and Falon made their second visit to this School to teach on Personal hygiene. Overview Lorna , Manuela and Falon arrived 20 minutes earlier and had to wait for the time that was allocated to them before they could start their lessons. They met the Headteacher who was very happy to receive them and took them to her office as they brought out the pupils from classes 4-7. We were later ushered under the tree where we held our lesson on Personal hygiene from. The Headteacher madam Lydia gave her opening remarks and welcomed Lorna, Manuela and Falon to address the Pupils. Lorna started by greeting the pupils and telling them about Kibo Group, she told them that whereas as a school they have subjects like English, Math, Kibo has different programs which Lorna mentioned as ; Water Sanitation and Hygiene Program, Healthy and Safe kitchens, Health and Spiritual empowerment, Life Skills Education and Counseling and Mvule Community Development Program. Lorna told the pupils what each program entails before she invited Manuela to take over. Manuela talked about Life Skills Education and Counseling Program. She talked about all the subtopics under this program. She mentioned HIV/AIDS Awareness Skills, Communication Skills, Critical thinking Skills, Relationship Skills, Decision Making Skills among others. After Manuela gave a summary on Life Skills topics she invited Lorna to take over the theory part of personal hygiene. Lorna taught about general body hygiene and this was very participatory. Lorna asked the pupils what they do first thing when they wake up in the morning. Namukose said she prays to God. Lorna said this was very important even though it is not part of personal hygiene she encouraged everyone when they wake up to say a prayer of thanks to God or Allah. Lorna thanked Namukose for her answer and asked someone else to try. Leah said she greets her parents and Lorna added that this too was very important.Faisal said he brushes his teeth and then washes his face. Lorna asked the rest of the pupils to clap for Faisal and told them to add a few more things they do before coming to school. They looked at bathing the whole body well, washing their panties, vests and they also looked at combing their hair. Lorna also talked about not sharing clothes, combs among others. She also took a look at the pupils finger nails and encouraged them to always keep their nails short. Lorna also spoke about washing of hands whereby she demonstrated how to wash hands well and she emphasized the use of soap. she also mentioned that our hands are the greatest transfer of germs into our bodies. She asked what times do we need to wash our hands? and they mentioned before eating and after visiting the toilet. Lorna said that was correct and she also mentioned other scenarios why it was necessary to wash hands like; after playing, sneezing and coughing and here she mentioned it would be helpful if one had a handkerchief. Manuela then concluded by carrying out a demonstration on the right way of brushing our teeth. She then asked some few representatives to come up to demonstrate whether they had learnt what was demonstrated to them. They were 20pupils and each was given toothpaste and a tooth brush Conclusion The pupils who represented did a good job as other pupils watched. Manuel and Lorna thanked the pupils for participating and welcoming them to their School. Manuela and Lorna then left for Jinja together with the school headmistress.
