Notes
Alex went to Kagulu and had a general meeting with all the village residents discussing about the steps involved in the borehole survey and call on everyone in the village to cooperate when that time comes. All the people must cooperate and leave the surveyor do his job but no one should interrupt the surveyor and no one should have selfish ambitions but rather let the surveyor do his job as required. There is always selfish ambitions that arise among people but this has to be discouraged from the beginning to avoid these scenarios and to avoid the village from splitting. Also the village was told that they have to allow water to be surveyed in all the sections agreed upon. Also the land has to be given out freely and that Kibo group doesn’t offer money to buy land where a borehole is to be drilled but willingly and at no cost the land owner gives a piece of land to the village to allow drill a borehole and must avail a land agreement to Kibo group. All the people that turned up for the meeting agreed to meet all these conditions and promised to cooperate too. Together in the meeting, the village agreed on which sections will be considered by the surveyor to survey for potential water sites and all those people are willing to let water be surveyed in their land. Before the meeting, Alex together with the village LC1 visited Bashir’s home and found him busy constructing his new bathroom and had completed constructing his pit latrine structure. The village has greatly improved and everyone in the village appreciate Kibo group for the help because before Kibo joined the village, majority of the people didn’t have pit latrines and were so many cases of open defecation in the village. But now the village has realized the importance of sanitation and building standard facilities like how many have done. This is one thing that was appreciated by all the village leaders in Kagulu and the sanitation level has gone really up compared to how it was about a year and half ago. We hope the water survey will take place soon after contacting Draco drilling company that drills our Kibo wells.
