- Irene and Ida went to Sinde to teach about Oral (teeth) care. The community gave a report about the work that has been done, they built stoves for all members and now are building for those who are not members but they pay some money.
Ida introduced the new lesson as a continuation stoves.
Ida asked what do they use the stoves for? Kamida said cooking food. What do you use to crush or bite food?
Wekesa the local chairman said that they use teeth to grind food.
Then Irene started by asking what are teeth. Nekesa answered and said teeth are bones that help in eating.Ouma said it’s what we use to eat.Irene modified by saying teeth are the hardest substances in the human body. Besides being essential for chewing.the teeth play an important role in speech. Irene then asked the community members the function or benefits of having teeth?
Oundo said teeth are for eating food, nafula said teeth are for defense or protection, the other said teeth are for tearing things. Irene modified by saying teeth can be categorized into the canines, incisors, premolars have a flat biting surface.their function is to tear and crush food.the molars are the largest of the teeth and also help in crushing food. Irene advised the members to avoid using their teeth on so hard things so as to avoid them from cracking and becoming damaged.
Nabwire asked if it’s true when someone bites you and you apply on the wound chicken poop, their teeth rot?
Irene answered that it’s not true according to medical advice. Chicken poop is full of germs don’t apply it on your skin.
