Notes
Alex together with four water and sanitation committee members visited the homes that shown no pit latrine in the third survey that WASH conducted. On a very good note there seemed to be continuity in the sanitation improvements in the village because there were new dish racks that had been constructed and the homes that were missing pit latrines now do have them. For example a stubborn guy called muwanika Badiru now has a new pit latrine that his brother helped him dig a 15ft latrine. Also Otim Grace was very hard to get a pit latrine but finally finished one. There is another group that recently worked with this village and the vhts sensitizing more about the importance of proper sanitation. All the 12 homes that hadn’t met the standards were visited and only two homes of which the owners are very old that no one takes care of them. However Alex called on the village chairman to get a way of how to help also Muzei Omosinyi and mutebe Paul. Those that had their facilities get old, have reconstructed new ones. Alex also met with the water user committee chairperson and together visited the new borehole that was recently drilled by Kibo group. The borehole status was still good and encouraged them to continue working together and fulfill their roles and responsibilities. Some few poles will need to be replaced and the committee was told to act quickly. The village leader mr. Musodho was reminded by Alex to always work closely with the two committees of water and sanitation to keep his village sanitation standards high. Once again a group of village women approached Alex and asked if the women could benefit from Kibo group to be empowered and Aida will plan to start working in this village sometime soon.
