- Alex had gone to Bulinda 1 village to have a meeting with all the village members concerning to have a way forward to have their borehole repaired. Unfortunately the meeting wasn’t well attended to because there was a funeral in the nearby village that took majority of the people. Together they decided to reschedule the meeting for another day. Alex asked the few people that gathered whether they would be willing to contribute money towards their borehole repair and they responded that they would contribute some money as they have been doing so. However they said that many people had given up because the village has contributed many times but this well breaks down regularly after a short time.
Therefore it would be very hard to get the village contribute a lot of money because many people had lost hope in reviving this borehole to work again. Alex decided to visit a few homes checking on the sanitation standards and on a very good note, this village is currently doing sanitation with an NGO called plan international focusing on all the sanitation facilities needed in a home. The rubbish pits and hand washing stations were seen in every home that was visited and the pit latrines were smeared and the houses too. A baseline survey will be conducted in this village soon to determine the village sanitation status and facility standards.
