Notes
Harriet made a surprise visit to Nawandyo B and this was intended to assess the level of sustainability of the Healthy and Safe kitchen program. Unfortunately by the time she reached in the village one of the community member had just died. Since the community members are related to one another all of them were affected and they had to immediately run to the funeral. This affected Harriet’s plan as she could not go to the homes of participants while inspecting stoves when the members had gone for the funeral. She also decided to join them at the funeral, collected water together with the community, comforted the family of the diseased. This was very encouraging to the community and they thanked Harriet on behalf of kibo for being with them in all situations especially during the sorrow moments. They compared kibo to other organizations who would have drove their cars away from the community Incase they found a funeral. Harriet told them that God’s love is unconditional and he wants us to love one another in all situations. Harriet also thanked the community for the love, unity and cooperation towards one another in case of any need. She told them always to care for one another in order to achieve development because” United we stand, divided we fall” Since the funeral was meant to be attended by only men since the diseased was a moslem Harriet had to leave and come back to Jinja.
