Notes
Aida and Irene went to Nabikenge to continue with gender roles and responsibilities during antenatal, delivery, and after delivery.Aida started with a review of the previous topic. Namukose answered saying.”Who is the owner of the child?” Another member said we talked about children being a gift from God and belong to man and woman. Irene then continued with the lesson and she started by asking the men who talk to their women about how they are feeling, how the pregnancy is progressing and also go to hospital with their wives to raise their hands one man raised his hand and when Irene asked them why others don’t they said because they are busy . Irene told them the benefits of going with their women to the hospital especially during pregnancy, delivery and after delivery, because there are so many risks during that period that need immediate attention like bleeding during pregnancy, high fever, convulsions, high blood pressure, checking for different kinds of diseases, and many things that need the presence of a husband, relatives, or close friend to be by her side and support. Irene also asked community members to help and support women because that period of pregnancy is so stressful. Irene also asked mothers to attend antenatal clinics to help treat, check, and prevent diseases that maybe of great danger to them and the babies. Men should help remind their wives about return dates, taking their medication, providing mothers with a balanced diet, visiting the health center Incase of any health problem, save some money and early preparation for hospital delivery to prevent delivering from homes, the road side and risking their lives. Men are still shy of going to hospitals with their wives because they think it’s not their responsibility but they promised to change.
