Notes
Tom made a visit to kisiro village to check on how the remaining homes that still have facilities to finish are progressing with there facility construction and improvements. When he arrived in the village, he found when the committee members were waiting at the meeting place at the chairman’s place opposite the primary school. Even though they few in number only three, they were able to give Tom some information about the new improvements in the village as regards sanitation and hygiene especially concerning latrine constructions. They said there were three new latrines on the lower section but also reported one family of a clan leader who hosts many events for his clan but up to today has not finished his latrine. Tom encouraged the committee members to visit the family and together talk to the resident so that he can finish his latrine. After the discussion, they started moving around the village checking on facility construction. They started off from one of the committee members home who recently dug and constructed a new latrine. He was very happy for what he had done. He had also encouraged his neighbors to work and improve on there shower facilities and one of them had constructed a new shower facility with cement. In another home along the road, there was a new latrine under construction. This home is new as they just moved in recently but there latrine is about to be finished. Tom thanked the lady for the work they have done to improve on there home and also encouraged them to talk to there neighbor to finish his pit as well. It’s a 30ft pit that has spent about three months without being constructed on. Tom shared with the committee members the dangers the open pit bring especially accidents if animals or people were to fall in. The committee members promised to talk to the resident to cover it if she is not yet in position to construct on it. They also moved to another section of the village towards the swamp were they found that the residents that side had maintained there Sanitation and hygiene well. Tom and the committee members encouraged the residents to maintain it. After they left the lower section, Tom left for jinja.
