Notes
Harriet, Martin , Falon and Suzan found a few participants in the trading center where the community always meet. They met with the chairperson LC1, VHT and the mayor of the village. Martin introduced the Healthy and Safe kitchen program to the local leaders. Harriet also briefed the leaders what the program is all about and asked them to lead kibo staff to walk around the homes to assess whether the participants have the requirements needed for the program and these were the latrines, kitchens, shower areas , pit latrines among others. They divided them selves into two groups whereby one group went to the section while another group went to the upper section. They walked around the homes and found out that most homes had kitchens, latrines, shower areas however a few homes that were lagging behind were encouraged to improve.it was also found out that all the homes that were visited cooked on open flames that produced a lot of smoke that had turned the walls black. They later came back to the center and found a group of men who eagerly wanted kibo staff to tell them their intentions in their village since they had finished working with water sanitation and hygiene. Kibo staff also needed to discuss about time , date and venue for the next meeting. Later some women also came to the meeting.Harriet briefly introduced the program to the few members who had gathered because they needed to know in order to mobilize others for the meeting. At first the men thought that the program was irrelevant to them but when Harriet briefed them what the program was all about they seemed to be interested and promised to support and mobilize the rest to participate. In the meeting they agreed to have the next meeting for the Healthy and Safe kitchen program on Monday 1st April 2019 at noon at the same place and promised to mobilize the entire village to participate.
