Notes
Ida ,Irene, and tape visited Bupeni to continue with the gender roles and responsibilities under Maternal and infant health. Last time Henry left an assignment with the men. Ida asked the ladies if men fulfilled their promise. Most women gave testimonies of how their husbands have changed in few weeks. One member said that her husband traveled the following day so she had nothing to share. Men who were present were happy that their wives recognized their change and work. After the discussion, Ida asked Irene to come and take over the platform. Irene started with the ice breaking question “ Who owns a child?” The community already knew the answer that children are for both father and mother. They must share the responsibility equally. Irene introduced a sub lesson under gender roles men helping women during pregnancy and after birth. He asked if there was any man who has ever gone to the hospital with the wife? No one raised their hands. Irene encouraged men to help women go through the pregnancy process since they face many problems as their bodies try to deal with a new creature in the womb. She also asked women to tell their husbands whenever they realize they have conceived. Both wife and husband must go to health centers because they teach many lessons concerning pregnancy, roles and how to care for pregnant mothers. Ida encouraged men to help their wives as much as possible and stop calling them weak because they can’t go to gardens some times.
