Notes
Tom made a visit to kisiro village to check on sanitation and hygiene improvements in homes that did not have latrines during the third evaluation and to end homes about facility maintenance and improvements. When he arrived in the village, he found when some of the committee members had gone to the mosque for a meeting. He waited for them at the meeting place with two other members and after a short while they were joined by the three more committee members. They started moving around the village and they started from the trading center towards the lower section of the village. In the trading center area, they found a new pit under construction. It was about 6ft deep. Tom encouraged the resident about the proper way of digging the pit as well as construction. The resident said he was wanted to have a new latrine before the old one fills up. On the lower section there was one new latrine newly constructed. Tom and the committee members encouraged the neighbor to also finish his. In another home, there was a pit of about 8ft and the residents was collecting logs as he prepares for construction. Tom and the committee members encouraged his to add onto the depth of the pit to about 15ft before he starts the construction. He said he had already paid another resident money to help him in the digging of the pit. He said he was going to meet with that person so that he finishes his pit. His neighbor who recently moved into a new house had also started on a pit and it was about 6ft.he was also encouraged to finish the pit as soon as possible because as of now he does not have a latrine. He said he was going to finish the pit and look for materials for construction. The lower section also had two new latrines. Tom advised the committee members not to give up on encouraging fellow residents but rather to continue encouraging and following up on them to see that they finish there facilities.
