Notes
Ida and Irene went to Kitukiro to continue with the gender roles and responsibilities during Antenatal and after child birth under maternal, child and infant care and Ida started with a recap of the previous lessons and after invited Irene to continue with the lesson. Irene by asking how many women inform their husbands about their pregnancy when it’s still less than three months? Then Namususwa said it’s not culturally allowed because the pregnancy can be aborted or it can be miscarried therefore they only get to know when it’s visible, Nairuba said the first time I told him he said am not the first one to conceive therefore there is no need. But Irene encouraged the women to keep telling their husbands because it’s the only way they can get to know the condition they are in and it’s changes. She also encouraged the men to offer full support to the women because that period in time women need their full participation and help. She also urged women and men to watch for the danger signs during pregnancy like convulsions, high blood pressure, bleeding, draining, high temperature, severe vomiting and anything that they feel is making their bodies not to be in good health. Irene also encouraged the women and men to continue saving some money from the time they conceive until that time of child birth so that they have enough money for hospital bills and any emergency, preparation of birth material Incase of a mama kit that would be so helpful since it consists of almost all things needed. Clothes and beddings, and someone to attend to them when in hospital. Irene also encouraged the men to go with their women to hospital so that they know the health of their babies and wives and also their health stand after checkups. Men thanked Kibo for opening their eyes and teaching them such important lessons in life.
