Enock and Martin visited this community to check on the progress of latrine construction, dish racks, shower areas, kitchen area, clean compounds, encouraging the residents to smear good facilities. When they arrived, they met with the local leaders to walk around this community to encourage, monitor, assess, evaluate and guide the residents to construct good standard facilities. The community members are embracing the program working towards achieving the 100% Latrine coverage and stop open defecation. As we walked around we encouraged the residents to construct roofs on their latrines since rains have started and may throw drown latrines walls or collapse them. We reminded them to have good structures with roofs to help them reduce the risks of falling off. They walked around teaching, sensitizing, encouraging the residents the core values of sanitation and hygiene as well as reminding the residents about the many diseases which occur due to open defecation. There are very many home which have greatly improved with good facilities in their homes. Our focus in on home without latrine and we are working hard with those residents to see that all the homes in this community have latrines in place. We emphasized the community members from the chairman and his cabinet to also take the lead in monitoring, mobilizing, encouraging and checking on those few homes with latrine to bring them up to speed. The leadership in this community has been more challenging since most of the chairmen have not stepped up towards the program. The people who have been active are the committee members who have embraced the program so well and taking the lead.
