Alex was in Buluvu to meet with the local leaders to discuss about what they hope to do to make sure they continue encouraging their village residents to Maintain their hygiene and sanitation facilities. He met first with the water user committee of the new borehole in Buluvu and reminded them to be very active and encourage the village water users to keep a safe water chain, meaning that everyone should be responsible enough to take good care of their borehole, fetch water using clean Jerrycans and maintain hygiene and sanitation in their homes. Together with the vhts, water user committee members and the village chairman moved around the village starting from the lower section of Buyangu and managed to visit Patrick’s home and checked on his new pit latrine that he recently constructed replacing an old one that he had before. They continued to move around the village checking on other homes and their hygiene status and generally the village looks very clean. The borehole is taken good care of and it looks very clean and the borehole fence is still very strong. At the end of the meeting, they all sat together in a meeting and the leaders decided to be reminding all the village residents to maintain their homes clean at all times during community gatherings like the funerals and other meetings. Also the leaders will be moving around the village to check on all the homes once in three months to ensure that they keep the village clean.
