Tom and a police officer from Namutumba made a visit to igerera village to check on the sanitation and hygiene improvements as well as facility construction especially the roofing of latrines. When they arrived in the village, they met the chairman at the church were he was helping in the construction of the church latrine. They were building the wall of the latrine when Tom and the police officer arrived. They chairman said he was very happy for kibo and for its work in the village to improve its sanitation and hygiene. He said his church did not have a latrine but he was happy that now his church will have a latrine. From there they started moving towards the lower section and along the way, they met a latrine recently roofed with the iron sheet. Tom encouraged the resident of the home to secure the roof very well. They also moved to other home were they found an elderly couple constructing there latrine. They are yet to roof it but Tom thanked them for the efforts they have put in to improve on there home and advised them to have other facilities as well in there home. In 5homes, they found when the residents had roofed there Latrines and Tom was advising them on standardization as well as improvements. There were also new hand washing stands constructed with jericans as well. Tom and the police office encouraged those that have not yet roofed to do so and advised the committee members and the chairman to continue encouraging and moving around the village to encourage other residents to finish there facilities. On the issue of hand washing, the chairman and the committee members said they will continue moving around the village sensitizing residents about hand washing as well as guiding them on how to construct the hand washing stands.
