Notes
Enock and Martin made a visit to this community to check, sensitize, encourage, monitor assess, evaluate, teach latrine construction, dish racks, rubbish, shower areas, kitchen area and more facilities which make up good sanitation in homes. As they arrived, they met with the local leaders and teamed up to walk different sections of the village so that they can cover up a big portion of the village during the follow up visit. During the home to home visit, they taught the residents how to construct good standard structures, taught the importance of good foundation, taught the benefits of having latrines and how to effectively use and maintain the facilities for example the use of ash in latrines was highly encouraged as they made a demonstration in one of the latrine which had many flies and was smelling bad. After the demonstration and few minutes the latrine was not smelling and all the flies had left the latrine. The people saw how power the use of ash is and vowed to always use it. As they continued walking around, they reminded the residents about the many diseases which are brought due open defecation case in point diarrhea, Trachoma, dysentery, cholera, typhoid, bilharzia and many more diseases which bring a lot of expenses on medication bills and hence poverty increase. Martin advised the residents to promote good sanitation, advised the community members about the values of sustainability and standardization of all their facilities. When people had that kind of conversation, they were so concerned and those who are slow have vowed to quicken there latrine construction. There are five new latrines constructed with brick structures around them, there are also 7 newly constructed dish racks with good poles. Enock emphasized the residents on the importance of using dish racks and educated them how to construct them. There are also five new shower areas, two new pits which are still under construction.
