Notes
Suzan went to the village with the intention of guiding the participants to select their leaders who would coordinate with the healthy and safe kitchen program and also help them form policies that would guide the members while they carried out their activities. When she arrived there, she found some community members already gathered at the meeting place within the trading center who happily welcomed her to their village. Together they settled down and exchanged greetings then later on, Suzan informed the members of the activity that was going to be carried out that day such as selecting committee members among themselves and that she would guide them throughout the whole process. She also taught about the importance of having leaders in every program, saying the leaders would help other members to participate in the program activities effectively. Suzan requested the members to only select active members they trusted within their community instead of choosing those who would disappoint them at the end. The community members went ahead and selected their committee members which included the chairperson, the secretary, the treasurer, mobilizers, time keeper and the disciplinary officers. Each leader would be able to carry out their duties while implementing the program activities and also keep updating other members of any changes in the program lessons. After selecting the leaders, Suzan assisted the members in forming policies which everyone would respect and follow while they carried out different activities. Some of the policies formed were; keeping time whereby whoever came late for a meeting will be fined by either paying some little money or cutting grass, and then participating together like building a stove for another member within their group, but if one was absent Incase of sickness or death,at least he/she would be able to inform others in time. Finally every activity was carried out successfully that day and the members were so grateful for the ideas introduced by Kibo staff, saying it would help them perform effectively. Suzan thanked all the members for taking part in the lessons, encouraging them to continue with the same spirit of working together. The members agreed on the date and time that the next meeting would take place and wished Suzan a safe journey back home.
