Notes
Ida and Irene went to since to continue with the nutrition lesson and after a review of the previous lesson, Irene continued with the different food kinds and how to categorize them so as to get a balanced diet. Irene started by asking the community members some of the crops grown in their area then with examples given Irene added other crops grown, other products that can be added on top of their crops grown to make a balanced diet. Irene continued categorizing the different crops giving the difference between the body building, energy giving and skin nourishing foods adding water and fruits as the most important that should be part of our daily meal because the biggest part of our bodies needs water. Irene told the members why it’s also important for pregnant women and those breastfeeding to eat a balanced diet ,encouraging them to take plenty of roughage foods to avoid constipation. Irene also gave the signs of malnutrition and how to make a balanced diet for children below five demonstrating the amount of each food required she later encouraged the members to ask questions and asked the community members and parents to find children with the malnutrition signs and take their children to the hospital for screening and more advice depending on the findings.
