Notes
Tom made a visit to the village check on sanitation and hygiene improvements especially focusing on facility construction and improvements. When he arrived to the village, he found when the chairman was waiting for him at his home with other committee members. They first discussed about the improvements so far in the village. The chairman and the committee members said the program was going well especially the roofing of the latrines. They said it was because of the rains that the program has reduced the speed but they said they are continuing to encourage every resident to finish up there facilities. After a short brief report, they started moving around the village checking on homes especially those in the lower section. In the two homes next to the chairman’s home, they found when they had finished roofing there latrines and had also set up there hand washing stands. They were very thankful for the old man for improving on his latrine and constructing it well and roofing it. In the other homes, they found another resident when he had also finished roofing his latrine. He was so thankful to kibo and to the committee members for encouraging him and advising him about Sanitation and hygiene. In the next home, the resident had also finished his Latrine and was remaining with just roofing it. In another home, they found a resident also working on the construction of a new shower facility as well as a hand washing facility. On the upper section they found an elderly couple that recently worked on there latrine. They had recently constructed it and also finished roofing it. Tom was very proud and happy for the couple and thanked them for the efforts they had put in to finish there latrine. They were also thankful to kibo for giving them the iron sheets for the roofing of the latrines. The elderly man said this greatly motivated him to construct a better latrine for his family. After the rain was about to start and Tom left for jinja.
