Notes
Irene went to Nabikenge to teach about food and waterborne diseases, Irene started with a review of the previous lesson before introducing the new one. Irene was so pleased when she asked about the turn up for the hepatitis vaccine and most of the members had taken the initiative to go get tested and vaccinated. Irene then asked the meaning of the word food and waterborne diseases. Nairuba answered and said ‘food diseases are those caused by eating rotten food. Waiswa said diseases found in food and water, and many more answers on addition to that, Irene said food and waterborne diseases are those got or acquired through eating food or drinking water that is contaminated. On addition to that Irene went ahead to talk about the ways through which food and water can be contaminated asked for views from the members. Musa said when we don’t wash our hands after visiting a toilet, Nabirye said when we drink water which is not boiled, so many answers were given which continued to open their eyes on how we food and water can be contaminated and with interactive discussions. Irene then asked for any questions after the discussion and then informed the members that next time they will be talking about how to prevent the food and waterborne diseases.
