- Notes
- Harriet found some participants gathered at the meeting place. As soon as she reached other people also came from their homes for the meeting.
The meeting began with an open prayer that was led by lonvisa. Harriet asked the participants to chose their own leaders who will coordinate the program. She told them the reason why this is important is Kibo’s goal is to empower them with the skill of building stoves so that they can practically implement the skill. She added that it’s therefore important for them to have their own leaders who will guide them/ coordinate the program as they do things on their own.
During the election all the women were denying responsibility with the reason that some people especially men may undermine them. One man called Godfrey Musana challenged the women and told them that leadership comes from God, also the program is to promote unity not division there fore the men will cooperate with the village program leaders whether men or women. Harriet also encouraged the community to try to balance the committee to ensure that they have both men and women.
By consensus the community elected Enock Kasajja as the chairperson, Josephine Nanangwa as the vice chairperson , Bwana Edirisa as the secretary, Bafumba Irene as the treasurer , Musana Godfrey and Nabirye Jane as mobilizers for the program.
Harriet asked the community to work in harmony with the leaders they have chosen on their own because these are mere volunteers.
Harriet led the community to identify possible challenges that may lead the program to be un successful as well as identify possible solutions. The community identified cases like absentism with out a clear reason and the solution was to pay a fine of Ugx 2000 if a member has not yet got a stove or else chase him or her from the group or destroy the stove if he/ she has already got a stove.
It was also a greed that for late coming a fine of Ugx 500 will be charged to avoid laziness or dodging work. Harriet encouraged them to respect and love one another for the smooth running of the program.
The community thanked kibo for the lesson/ program and promised to be cooperative during the program implementation.
