Notes
Jessica, Suzan and Tape went to the village to teach the community members how to remove banana stems from the old built stoves. When they arrived there, they met the community members already gathered at the meeting place with some of their committee leaders. The members happily welcomed Kibo staff with songs of joy, and together they sat down and had a few discussions about the activity that was going to take place that day. Together they agreed and divided themselves into two groups whereby each group went to the home where the fuel efficient stoves were previously built and learnt how to remove the banana stems out of them. Kibo staffs carried out this activity while the members watched. This was important because dividing two groups gave each member a chance to learn how to take out the stems from the stoves without squeezing one another in the kitchen especially the elderly people. Kibo staffs also kept on explaining each step to the members and encouraged them to ask questions whenever they didn’t understand anything. This was very important because it enabled them to master the skills easily. The members were also encouraged to keep smearing their kitchens and stoves so that they would look much more neater and healthy. The community thanked Kibo staff for the lessons taught that day and together agreed on the date and time that the next meeting would take place, and the meeting came to an end.
