- When Alex B arrived at Bupaluka,he found members waiting for him at their usual meeting place.The meeting began with prayer that was led by Peter one of the group member.
The chairperson of the group Saul Mutooto gave the welcome remarks.He thanked them for turning up for the meeting and asked them to be ready to listen,learn and participate during the meeting. He also reminded the members to respond when they are called to go and work in their group garden project of cassava and soybeans. He said the garden is doing well and reminded them to think of the time when their crops will be ready for spraying and every one should participate.
Alex B thanked them for their garden project since it’s a demonstration one for them to learn from.He also asked them to work together as and share ideas to make it better.
Alex B reminded them-of their constitution especially the issues of loan and saving scheme. He began with saving food stuffs in their homes and why is done,and he told them as they the need to save food every season after harvest so that they can use it during the time of scarcity.
The members said that they did not know the relevance of saving food but only knew the need to save money. He told them that it’s like people are always interested in getting loan without knowing how to use it so that they are able to pay it back.
Moses one of the members suggested that a loan is money that is given to some one and do business then after pay back.He also said saving money keeping for him or her self for feature use.
Alex B guided them about the loan and saving that as far as money is concerned is either for group and individuals. He told them that mostly what is required in everything is documentation.Loan is mostly applied by a person with a reason and in most cases with interest on it. There is also agreement that is made by the two parties.Whereby saving is the money that is kept somewhere for personal reason but yet also safe. He mentioned a few reasons but because of time he,left them discussing how does one benefit from the loan and saving scheme. He mentioned to them on to discuss like : Who will be in charge of the loan and saving scheme,how they will raise money for loaning,the process of giving and receiving the loan back.How the saving will be conducted by the members. It was was pat three o’clock and Alex B left for Jinja.
