- Notes
- Harriet found the participants already in the meeting. They were busy deliberating and the minutes were being taken. The members warmly welcomed Harriet to their village with joy.
The chairperson of the group mrs Nabirye Mukunya Margret told Harriet that the group has been progressing well in a way that all the members cook on their stoves on daily basis, they were able to take out of the kitchen the three stones.
She also added that the stoves have helped them to save time that enables them to do other activities like knitting mats which are later sold and the money is saved in the small group cash round.
She added that this has helped them to stay united, buy some home assets like plates and cups which would have been hard to do at individual level.
The members also said that the Healthy and Safe kitchen program has improved on their marriage relationships since the women no longer spend longer ours in the forests since these stoves use two to three pieces of firewood to serve both food and source. The stoves have also attracted the men to help their wives to cook food for the family due to the absence of smoke.
Mrs Mukunya Margret said that she uses her stove to cook pancakes that she sells in the trading center to rise some money.
Harriet later asked the group to walk with her and check with the stoves of some few homes and they were really neat and effective. Harriet encouraged the group to mainly the teamwork spirit and the saving culture in order to achieve development.
