Notes
Ida and Irene went to Bupeni to make a review of the gender roles and responsibilities mainly targeting the children and youths that are in holidays and to also encourage parents to continuously talk to their children and creating a friendly environment so as the children can speak out their problems without fear. Irene also taught about the dangers of not treating the different infections especially the sexually and urinary tract diseases giving examples and how they can be treated and prevented, encouraged parents to monitor their children’s hygiene especially the teenagers because during this stage a lot of changes take place in their bodies that need their parents guidance. Irene continued to advise individuals and parents to know their children’s HIV status because many children are living a positive life and struggling with drugs in fear of what their parents will say when they find out. Parents were also encouraged to know their children’s friends right from school to the community they come from because most children are influenced by their peers and therefore end up messing up their lives and becoming a problem to the communities they come from. She then continued by asking the different ways in which parents can groom, make their children friends and helped them stay in school? It was an interactive discussion and the community members were so grateful for the lessons and asked to be taught more about HIV/AIDs next time.
