- Notes
- Suzan and Jessica went to the village to follow up on the smearing of the facilities and the progress of the healthy and safe kitchen program. When they arrived there they met a few members gathered at the meeting place outside the church. The members happily welcomed Kibo staffs to their village and together they sat down and exchanged greetings.
One of the committee members opened the meeting with a prayer and then made a few reports about the program activities that were so far moving on well. She also reported about the other members who couldn’t make it to the meeting that day because they had lost one of their relatives and had gone for the funeral ceremony. She went ahead and kindly requested Kibo staffs to walk with them within the village visiting home to home while monitoring the program facilities.
During the home visits, some members had neatly smeared all their houses and maintained their facilities such as the shower areas, latrines, dish racks, rubbish pits, tippy taps and the energy saving stoves. While others seemed to be lazy and kept on promising to repair their facilities Incase they got free time. Suzan and Jessica encouraged them to do so because it would benefit them much and enable them live a happy healthy life with their families.
The members also said the fuel efficient stoves has really improved on their lives in away that they no longer suffered from smoke inhalation and eye infections, and that they used less firewood yet food was always cooked on time sparing some time for other activities. They were so grateful for the love that Kibo group showed them and promised to always work hard and maintain their sanitation and hygiene facilities. Jessica and Suzan thanked all the members for the good work done and encouraged them to keep the same spirit for an effective development. The meeting then came to an end with the members wishing kibo staffs a safe journey back.
