Ws Notes
This water source had been down for about two years due to broken pipes. This borehole was initially installed with GI pipes that became too old and rust. It was drilled by the government. The community had given up on this borehole due to regular breakdowns and they were paying money to fix it many times. 8 Gi pipes were removed but originally they were 14 pipes. They kept reducing them because they had rust and perforated. At 8 pipes it could not produce enough water and would reach a time when water could come out. Kibo has now re-installed it with new stainless pipes, rods, head assembly, new cylinder, bolts, third plate. The borehole was left pumping out enough water and will continue to monitor it to make sure it functions as required.
Operating

Repair Notes
After about two years of this community lacking access to clean water, this was a beautiful and wonderful day to this community in Kagulu, Nabigalata. Kibo has fixed this borehole with new parts. New U2 SS pipes, SS rods, a new U2 cylinder and head assembly were installed. It was a very successful day seeing the water come out after installing these parts . The community was told to pump the water to clear since the old pipes had changed the water color due to rust. It took about 10 minutes and the water was very clear. Many of the community members hurried to line up and get water. The community was able to raise 500,000sh towards their borehole account and they were able to pay the Hand pump mechanic who worked with the Kibo staff that day. They were told to mobilize themselves for another general meeting to sensitize every one more on proper handling of this borehole after the repair and to replace some members on the water committee who claim they would love to be changed. Now the people are very happy that they will no more walk 3km to the nearest borehole or the swamp and thanked Kibo for the support to their community.
