- Notes
- Harriet found a few participants at the meeting place. As soon as she reached other members also turned up. The meeting began with a prayer that was led by Edith Bwana. Harriet walked with the members to the home of the participants where the first demonstration stove was built.
She asked the members to pay attention ,watch and ask questions where they did not understand. Harriet removed all the banana stems , shaped the demonstration stove as she explained the whole process while the community watched. One member called Namugerwa asked a question that, what will happen in case a banana stem for oxygen is not taken out. Harriet explained to them that this will affect the effectiveness of the stove since it will require someone to always sit near the stove to keep on blowing fire for the stove to cook which is not different from the three stone fire( time consuming).
Harriet encouraged them always to ensure that all the five banana stems are taken out for the stove to be effective. She also told them to try as much as possible to learn and master the process of building stoves for the program to be sustainable in their village,
When the community saw a complete stove they were very happy and thanked kibo for empowering them with a skill.
